"I don't know where the normal stairs are," Ron pointed out. He didn't even know where he was. How was he supposed to locate an alternate route out of here if he didn't know where to go? "Right, well..." He sniffed at the air and shuffled his feet uncomfortably. Riding up and down Muggle devices had absolutely not been on Ron's list of things that he wanted to do that afternoon. But this girl, here, she seemed all right. And she certainly understood more about this rubbish than he did.
"If you go on and do it with me," Ron decided, "I'll...yeah. I'll give it a go. But you've got to help me along, yeah? If I get on that thing and it kills me before I get back home? Mum'll bring me back and kill me all over again. It won't be pretty."
