WHO: Eden McCain & James T. Kirk
WHAT: Idle explorations lead to random encounters.
WHERE: Colligo Streets
WHEN: Midafternoon
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

Eden wasn't really sure exactly what to make of all of this. The information that she'd been given, the changes that had been made, the things that had happened...all of it seemed to blend together until she wasn't really sure exactly which way was up anymore. She'd promised Claire that she would reserve judgment on Sylar until she had a better understanding of the situation. But Elle and Sylar together. Elle pregnant. Them apparenly already having a teenage son here. And Sylar apparently having gone back to close to what he had been as Gabriel was almost too much for her to fathom.

So instead of dwelling upon that, Eden had decided that it would be a better idea to get out of the building that she'd been stuck in, wander the streets for awhile until she was better able to think without all of that impinging on her thoughts. At least the city was familiar, something that she could allow herself to get lost in. It wasn't nearly as crowded at New York, or nearly as spread out as LA, but the wash of the city provided her with some comfort. It was something that wasn't so horribly out of place because if you've been in one big city, you know the feel of them all even with the little differences that surface between them.

The little differences here, though, were that things felt rather drastically out of place if one thought about them too much. But Eden was doing her best to ignore those feelings. Instead, she was keeping her eyes scanning the individuals in the crowd to try and locate one that looked like a good mark. Only a hundred dollars in the bank account meant one thing. Eden felt she had to fall back on the one way that she knew how to survive. At least, for awhile. Until she could figure out exactly how the hell they were expected to work in this town.

Dressed in simple civilian clothing that consisted of a white t-shirt, boots, and jeans, the young captain could have easily been dismissed as one of the many inhabitants of Colligo who were, seemingly, supposed to be there. He didn't understand how this place could have natives who didn't know anything beyond the place's name, but had stopped questioning it. There were other things he needed answers to that came before solving the mystery of the pod people. What gave him away as someone who wasn't of little use to someone looking for a way out was the communicator that clearly wasn't a PDA shoved in a back pocket and the phaser shoved in the other.

He was on his way to the nearby computer store. The tweaks he'd tried to make this morning had fried some of the circuits to the left display screen and he'd run out of back-ups. He could fix it, he just needed the part.

Jim had been kicking a rock as he walked, ridiculously bright blue eyes fixed to the ground as he watched his boot toe the rock from place to place -- until he came around a corner and nearly slammed into some poor woman.

"Whoa! Sorry about that. You alright there?"

The bump was a rather classic move, one that kiddie cons started on, so Eden's instinctive reaction was to check her pockets the second that they parted, briefly ignoring his question before she had assured that everything was still in its place. Just an accident, then. Glancing up at the man who was around her own age, Eden managed a smile as she took him in. Classically handsome, features that almost made him seem like he had stepped out of some classical painting of Greek gods, enough of an appearance that made him look average, but a stance that spoke more than his clothing could ever say and those items that she could clearly see provoked more interest than they did to dissuade her.

He'd do.

"I'm fine. Takes a bit more than that to knock me down," Eden said. She was rusty as far as conning went, perhaps, but men were all the same and very easy marks to fool. Especially when they had no choice in the matter. "Certainly hope I didn't hurt you," She said, clearly teasing. Tiny thing like her would barely make a scratch. But of course, she knew that. The idea was just to keep him talking.

Jim patted himself down, just for the hell of it. Despite accidentally breaking part of the systems in the lab, he was in a pretty good mood today. "Nah, still as scratch-free as ever."

And then came that awkward silence stage, where Jim wasn't sure whether to just nod and keep on his merry way or to spark a conversation that could be brief or long. He'd go with the latter today. "New here?"

"Unfortunately," Eden replied evenly. There wouldn't be much necessity for making things up in this situation. "Or probably, fortunately would be the better way to put it considering I was rather...dead," Eden said, throwing it off as though it were really nothing much to consider. "And apparently everyone suddenly decided to become all pal-sy with my murderer. Which, even if he didn't technically kill me, is a little bit chaffing."

And she was being a little more honest than she needed to be, but, well, whatever worked. He asked if she was new, so she had explained that she was.

"Going to take it you've been here awhile."

And unfortunately for poor Eden, Jim Kirk just happens to be the 'murderer' in question's best friend in this place. He was aware of the things that Copperfield had done -- hell, the man himself had told him about what happened with Eden -- but he also understood the complexity of what was a very delicate situation, thanks to the explanations provided to him by both Gabriel himself and Claire. He trusted them both as much as he trusted members of his own crew. As it were, that little babble bit of hers just told him who she was. Jim hadn't spoken to her when she'd arrived, but he had gone back and looked at her post after Gabriel had pointed her out to him.

He wasn't sure how to react, but kept his expression and stance the same and nodded. "Almost four months now."
