Hey everyone!

Well, it's time. The fourth anniversary of the game is upon us. Yes, that's right. Colligo has been going strong for four years now. In celebration, it is time for the Anniversary Redux Plot. This will start tonight (Monday night) at midnight and will run for two weeks, possibly a bit longer depending on player involvement, and will encompass the majority of our past plots.

Players have the option of having their characters affected by certain past Colligo plots, or even multiple plots at once. The only plots unavailable will be those that affect the city as a whole, such as invasions or plots where the city itself changes, either by weather or location. A comprehensive list of available plots is listed below:

All available plots will follow their usual rules, with the exception of the Soap Opera plot - in the sense that there will be no suspension of disbelief by other characters. Look at the posts for the plots themselves, or come to the mods with questions, if you have any questions regarding the details of the plot.

For those plots with an astericks, pairings can be taken to the OOC comm or brought up to the mods if decided in AIM or email.

Also, if you discover any plots we've done in the past year that don't fall under the exclusions rule, yet also aren't listed above, please let us know and we'll add it

To give your characters something to do until the next plot rolls around, we've decided to do another questionnaire.

At midnight, all characters' PDAs will receive the following questions. If your character isn't the type to fill it out on their own, feel free to say that it wouldn't go away until they answered the questions. Also, Asaph will be affecting everyone who answers with a sort of low-level honesty compulsion. They won't have to be honest in any of their discussions, but they will have to answer all of the questions honestly. Also, they will not be able to erase anything. So it'll all be fail!strikeouts. To designate something a character tried to get rid of basically do </s>this</s>.

So the plot is over and everyone is back to normal. Now, it's time for an activity check.

This activity check is going to be different, because it doesn't require a thread, simply an example of activity, but also because it's limited to this plot.

Comment with a link to a post you made or commented to during the amnesia plot for each of your characters by Monday, April 1 at 12:01 AM EST. Any characters who do not have some show of activity will be removed.

We're not asking for a lot here, just something from the last two weeks. Only activity during the plot itself will be included, so backtagging will not count for activity.

Hey everyone! This is just a quick note to let you all know that the current plot will be ending Sunday night/Monday morning at midnight (EST). All characters will wake up in the morning in their regular beds and everything will have returned to Colligo standards of "normal". The only exception to this will be anyone who was killed in the course of the plot. They will either wake up where they were buried, or return through the library in the event that their body was fully destroyed and therefore incapable of being buried. Obviously, if you want to have your characters post starting at midnight about waking up with their memories returned and whatnot, feel free. No one is going to make you wait until Monday morning to actually post.

As an additional note, Adam Young made a post here about people with reality-warping abilities. In that post, he and Jesse Winchester discussed all of those capable of doing such a thing getting together and deciding, at one time, that everyone in Colligo will remember who they are, etc. That is how we are ending the plot. The actual action itself will simply be handwaved, as there are too many characters in the city who fall under this category to feasibly do a thread. However, if you feel your character might qualify - and obviously we're mostly talking about any who can control/manipulate reality and/or thoughts of those around them - then please have them either respond to that post or let us mods know you'd like them involved. It's really that simple.

Colligo Mod Squad

Hey everyone!

Asaph has given everyone a bit of a break from the chaos, but now he's getting bored and so it's time for something new. Well, not so much new as an oldie but goodie, but hopefully characters will have fun.

Starting at midnight all characters will have absolutely no memory of who they are. They will pass out suddenly wherever they are and when they wake up they will have no memories. You don't have to have them pass out at home, and in fact we encourage you to be creative in terms of where they are and who they're with. If you've seen the Buffy episode Tabula Rasa, then you have some idea of the things people can wrongly decide about their lives. Maybe two friends will wake up together and assume they're a couple. Maybe the X-Mansion or the Sanctuary or Stark Tower will all decide they're trapped in a government experiment. Get creative with this and have fun.

In terms of personal memory, characters will be completely blank slates. This won't effect their personalities, they aren't becoming pod people. They also won't be forgetting facts. They'll still be able to math and define what iambic pentameter is (unless they couldn't before this). But they won't remember anything about their lives. In addition anything that would tell them who they are is gone. Photographs aren't around, nameplates are gone from the apartments, and the PDAs no longer have the characters' names. Likewise, all backlogs of the network are inaccessible, so that people can't simply look back to find out about themselves. Anything that would identify them is absent.

All characters will maintain their abilities, but they won't know that they do and they won't necessarily have the same level of control they usually do since they're not aware of their powers. The same goes for skills. If someone has years of ninja training, or can pick a lock in four seconds, they'll still be able to do so. They just won't know that they can. This does have potential to be both interesting and destructive, given some characters are rather powerful, so please be responsible and realistic when dealing with this aspect of the memory loss. Try not to have your character destroy half the city or immediately go and break out of their apartment through a ventilation shaft even though they shouldn't know they can do that.

And please, use this opportunity to branch your characters out and have them interact with people they might not otherwise. This is a great chance to have people interact in new and different ways and to forge new connections. It can be easy to fall into patterns, so hopefully this plot will be a good way for your characters to break out of their routines.

The Colligo Mods

When your characters wake up in the morning, things in Colligo are going to be a little different. And all characters will be waking up, even if they normally don't sleep. That'll probably even be the first clue for some people. They won't necessarily be in their regular flat and they definitely won't be alone. You can, of course, start posting now as if it's morning. We don't expect you to be quiet all night.

Your characters will wake up in the morning with no memory of the night before, in bed with another person. Even characters who don't normally sleep will wake up under the same set of circumstances. There will be another person with them and, for all intents and purposes, the pair have been hitched, Vegas style. All the apartments, save for those with children or minors are now one bedroom. For couples who are now "parents", there will be a second bedroom for their child.

This isn't going to affect characters mentally. They won't necessarily love, or feel anything in particular, toward their new spouse. They're simply stuck together. Their wedding rings, which don't come off, keep them from separating too far, except to go to work, and there are requirements for this "marriage".

That's all. Don't kill each other and try to get along, though we're not really expecting it in all cases. These pairings were created with a randomizer, and were found to be pretty amusing by the mods. He’s bringing back one of his old favorites, so the Child Friendly plot is going to be ending tonight at midnight and starting immediately, a Genderswap is going to be in effect. Obviously this is pretty straightforward and completely voluntary. Whoever you want to be affected, will be. Whoever you want to leave alone can react to the craziness.

Hey everyone!

Asaph’s gotten bored with everyone having verbal diarrhea so the Inner Monologue Plot will be coming to a close, tonight, Sunday January 27th, at midnight. Instead, Asaph’s decided that everyone needs a bit of a break from the heavy handed drama and will be making Colligo much more Child Friendly. Starting tomorrow night at midnight, no matter how good or evil your character may be, they will be transformed into how they might behave were they a children’s storybook character.

An average joe with a heart of gold can become a true hero while the villainous criminal masterminds in the city will be known for the worst crimes of crimes such as stealing sweets, bullying the underdogs, vandalizing property, and general not niceness. Chivalry and kindness pay off in the end. Good always wins. Cheaters never prosper. And sometimes, the biggest problem that you have is getting yourself stuck inside a rabbit hole.

It’s completely up to you on which side of the line your character falls, but Asaph would prefer it if the morally ambiguous edged towards one or the other. After all, it’s not fun making the assembled masses act like overblown caricatures of themselves if they don’t fully embrace it.

Hey everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed the bit of a break that Asaph provided for everyone to recover from the Christmas Invasion and the insanity that comes with it because it's time for him to have some fun again. Starting tonight at midnight (EST), Asaph will be kickstarting the Inner Monologue Plot.

Everyone has things that they think but don't necessarily say out loud for whatever reason. Now, though, they won't be able to resist sharing. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • This isn't an honesty plot. There will be no compulsion to tell the truth or confess their inner most fears, worries, or desires to others.

  • People will just be more likely to blurt out what they are thinking to others. Whether it is as random as a stray thought about how much they like pancakes or something more personal that they're dwelling on, each will be just as likely to come out.

  • How much or how little your characters share will depend on the character's own thought patterns. Trust your instincts. If your character's mind is unlikely to stray from the matter at hand, they may be sharing less than someone who is prone to stream of consciousness.

  • Much like the Honesty and Confession Plots, everyone will be affected. It is merely up to the player how much their characters share with the Colligo public.

  • For anyone who is curious what someone might sound like when affected by this plot, take this Stephanie Brown post for example. The sheer lack of mental filter shows.

  • Obviously, strikeouts will not work at all during the course of the plot. Once again, fail strikeouts are written like </s>this</s>.

Hey everyone!

So the plot will be coming to a close tonight at midnight, though the framework for that has already been set in motion. Q finished the device that he and Hank had been working on, with Tony Stark's help, and used it to cause the Daleks to self-destruct. He had Loki and Jack Harkness helping him by distracting the Daleks while he used the device. Rachel Summers took out the Weeping angels. Helena Wells, with the help of various members of the Sanctuary, took out the Cybermen with Tesla guns and her heat ray. And Loki turned the Silents against the other monsters with his Glowstick of Destiny, then destroyed them. So by midnight all the bad guys will be dealt with and characters who died can begin coming back to life.

There will, of course, be a good deal of damage to the city, but there are characters capable of dealing with that. If you want your characters to offer up that sort of assistance, please feel free to do so. In the meantime, there will be another plot coming up probably this weekend, to give people a few days to recover from this plot.

Hey, guys!

Christmas is upon us, and by now you all know what that means.

That's right! It's time for a Christmas Invasion! For the next two or weeks, give or take, depending on the response, the city is going to be dealing with a major external attack. For those curious about what will be attacking, there will be multiple Doctor Who villains suddenly in the city. We're going to have Daleks, Weeping Angels, Cybermen and Silents, all in Colligo. Information about all the bad guys will be under the cut.

Feel free to come to the mods with any ideas you might have as to how to deal with any of these creatures, and also know that you're more than welcome to throw your characters at these villains. As always, you can kill off your characters. Just know that they will remain dead until the plot ends. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us.

Hey, guys!

The holidays are upon us, and that means it’s time for the usual holiday fare in Colligo. Starting at midnight (so...you know...a couple minutes from now), there will be snow in the city, and the lake will be frozen over. Don’t worry, everyone. The giant squid is taking a vacation with the bite-y worms or the flying cats or something outside the city. Decorations and all the things you’ve come to expect from Christmas (and Christmas in July) will be around the city, and it’s generally very festive. As always, there will be trees in all the apartments and other residences, courtesy of Parker (with help from Gabriel). Each tree will be decorated in a way to reflect the personality, interests and beliefs of the individuals. And, as usual, the trees of the city’s more morally grey characters will have expensive decorations to bribe Santa. Look, don’t question Parker’s logic. She’s Parker. You should be used to this by now.

There will be life-sized gingerbread houses in the park, courtesy of Gabriel (with help from Parker). Also, each apartment and residence, will be finding a gingerbread house outside their door in the morning. There won't be a note or any indication of who it's from, or anything like that. Just a gingerbread house. Again, these are a gift from Gabriel. They are absolutely harmless, and will not negatively affect your character at all, but feel free to have your character be paranoid and freak out. After all, this is Colligo, and nobody would be surprised if eating it turned you into a gingerbread person.

The city has all the usual decorations, including everyone’s favourite mistletoe. Remember that if your character ends up under the mistletoe, they will be overwhelmed with the desire to kiss the nearest person, and the compulsion will not go away until they’ve done so. We look forward to some wonderful and awkward times to come. Also, there is Christmas music playing around town, and Carollers going around singing. If your character is somewhere and Christmas music starts playing or being sung by locals, they will have an overwhelming sense of cheer and Christmas spirit and goodwill toward their fellow man until they get away from the music, at which point they’ll probably be annoyed at manipulative Christmas music, but what can you do? It’s Colligo. There will, of course, be decorations for other holidays as well, including the usual menorah in the park for our Jewish Colligoans.

In addition, Colligo is going to have some old friends back. Jack Frost is going to be around, as will Frosty and the reindeer and elves. Remember to be nice to Rudolph. He has it pretty hard sometimes with that nose of his. And be careful around the Abominable Snowman, because he sometimes has a temper. Feel free to use your imagination when it comes to who your characters might run into in regards to classic Christmas characters. Along with Frosty, some snowmen (or women) may come to life, and Rudolph and other reindeer might talk if you take the time to listen. If your character runs into some broken down or messed up toys, they should have a conversation before throwing them out. They really just need someone to love them. Meanwhile, Jack Frost will be running around causing winter weather with Snip and Holly, and Santa himself will be getting gifts ready for everyone, with his penguin friend Topper...while a green guy in a Santa suit periodically steals decorations. And if you don't recognize at least some of these references, you have no heart (or possibly no television, or no desire to watch animated or claymation Christmas specials) and you make me sad.

Also, characters will be getting gifts from Asaph, like usual, come Christmas time. Below there’s a form you can fill out for suggestions of what your characters could get. Please keep it realistic and give us a few options to work with. The presents can be something from home or just something they really want. For obvious reasons, please do not request people as gifts.



So, happy holidays everyone! Enjoy the plot and we look forward to Christmas, and the inevitable chaos and destruction it will bring with it. Hey, everyone.

At midnight on Friday, people with powers will lose them and others (since we have more powered than non-powered people) will get them. The reason for the 24 hour delay is to ensure that players who may not be familiar with all of the abilities their characters were assigned are given proper time to gather information and figure out how it will affect their characters. Be sure to talk to each other if you’re not entirely sure what your partner’s ability is.

Additionally, items associated with powers will transfer along with the power. For example, Abed will have Damon's ring. And Darcy will have Thor’s hammer. So on and so forth. These things will be on the person of the character receiving the power when they wake up.

We hope you'll have fun with this plot and enjoy the opportunity to play your characters in new ways. We really feel like this experience can help them to grow. As always, if you have any comments/questions/concerns, feel free to contact us.

Hey everyone!

Have your characters enjoyed their break from the insanity that constantly plagues Colligo? Good. Because they're getting some more in the form of the Collector bringing back an old plot that most of our players seemed to like the first time around.

Soap Opera Plot!

Yes, starting tomorrow night at midnight (Tuesday night going into Wednesday), the city of Colligo is going to get a huge boost of drama as characters start behaving like they're part of a Soap Opera. Unlike some plots, this one will focus on the interpersonal relationships and conflicts in the city, rather than any sort of external force. Characters might behave in ways they never would otherwise, but nobody will notice anything wrong or think anything is out of the ordinary.

So embrace the drama and have your characters do things they never would under normal circumstances. This is meant to be a fun, zany plot where characters can do crazy things that will leave them wondering what the heck they were thinking when they're back to normal. Drama will, of course, play a role in this, but don't go too over the top with it. We want this to be fun.

With the culmination of Halloween, Asaph will be returning the horror movie monsters to the screens from which they came. So at midnight tonight, any remaining vampires, werewolves, zombies, mummies, monsters, and ghosts will disappear from Colligo's streets.

Another plot will be starting in a few days, but for now, have your characters breathe a sigh of relief at Asaph having given them one holiday off to actually enjoy themselves without any insanity being brought down on their heads.

Hey Everyone!

Halloween is fast approaching and we thought it would be good to get you all into the spirit of this most festive of holidays.

Now, what do Dracula,


the Wolfman,


Mummies,


Zombies,


Ghosts,


and Frankenstein's Monster


all have in common?

If you answered "They're all classic horror staples", you would be right, and you would get a cookie. If you answered "LOL! They're all wandering around Colligo to screw with our characters", you would be righter even more right.

Yes, starting at midnight, so in an hour or so, Colligo is being overrun by classic movie monsters. So expect vampires, werewolves, zombies, mummies and Frankenstein's Monster around. As with good movies, there are rules, drawing from movie cliches.

  • Vampires - Cannot go out in sunlight, are repelled by garlic and crosses, and can be killed by a stake to the heart, fire and decapitation.
  • Werewolves - Won't just turn with the full moon (This is only npc werewolves, obviously. Remus and Erica are fine), but will only turn at night. They can be killed with silver bullets.
  • Zombies - Go for the headshot. These are the classic, old school, slow-moving zombies, so please don't post about how they chased you down when you tried to run away. Unless you're running backward on your hands, that won't work.
  • Mummies - Decapitation? Fire? Dismemberment works.
  • Ghosts - Exorcisms can remove the really pesky ones from your place, or you can try talking to them and getting them to move on.
  • Frankenstein's Monster - Pretty much whatever will kill someone. Again, fire works. But keep in mind he isn’t always violent. Just when he feels scared or freaked out or threatened. You are more than welcome to have peaceful interactions with the guy.


Now, there are also some general rules, guidelines and notes to consider:

  • Characters can be killed. Please be realistic with this and do not kill off all your characters. Then you will be sad and bored. Characters who die will return once the plot ends.
  • Characters can also be turned into vampires or werewolves or zombies. Again, be realistic with this. The rules of their species will apply. Also, this will last until the plot ends.
  • Feel free to have your characters freak out, but the obvious stuff applies. They won't run into a vampire or werewolf in the park during the day. Also, they probably won't see 90 mummies at once.
  • Feel free to imagine Monster Mash is playing constantly. I sure am.


The plot will run until Thursday, November 1. Have fun with it and be creative.

Hey everyone.

Like we said yesterday, there is a new plot starting tonight at midnight. This plot is going to be a lot different than things we've done before. As we said a few days ago, there are some real problems with activity and interaction in the game, and we hope this plot will help to address some of those issues. But there's only so much that we can do, and the rest is up to you all as players. We're going to be really watching during this plot, and we hope that we'll see an improvement in the problem areas we've discussed before.

Starting tonight at midnight, every character in the game is getting a clean slate. They will all wake up, with no memory of ever being in Colligo before. The last three years never happened, at least for the next two weeks. To be clear, this is not permanent. We're not undoing everything that's been built up in the course of this game. Players are simply going back to canon point. In that vein, characters can be from the same canon point they were when they came into the game, or you can use this opportunity to update them to current canon, but you cannot take them back to an earlier canon point. This is still the same version of the character you've been playing before this plot, their memories of Colligo are just removed.

Here are some things to clarify some concerns you might have.
  • Characters won't remember Colligo at all. They will only remember their canon. You can take them from the canon point they were at originally when they came to the game, or bump them up to a new canon point, but you cannot take them backward in canon.
  • These are still physically the same characters. Any changes that happened in the course of the game (i.e. - Clint's robotic hand, your character getting a tattoo, anything that might have changed while you played them) will still apply, the character will just have no idea how the change happened. This also applies to abilities gained in the city or other non-physical changes.
  • Similarly, characters who have been aged up in the city (Damian Wayne, Molly Suresh, Jude Harvelle, Jesse Turner) will all remain older. They just won't have clear memories of the time between their childhood and now. So it'll be like they're suddenly older with no understanding of why. For characters born in the city (Jack and Meri Winchester), they won't remember anything beyond that they are siblings. They won't know their parents or anything about Colligo.
  • Though characters will not remember Colligo, we acknowledge the importance of relationships in the city. If two characters were incredibly close, you are free to have your characters feel a sort of connection there though they won't understand why they feel that connection.
  • That said, we do expect players to use this opportunity to have their characters make connections beyond canonmates and existing relationships in the game. If we see that players are only having their characters interact with people they already would, we will address that. And, if we see that players are not playing during this plot (and waiting until the last few days does not count), we will remove people who are not playing. We were serious when we said that activity and interactions were issues and we feel that this plot gives you all a good opportunity to address that. If you don't, that will be a problem. We're not saying you can't interact with castmates or people your characters already knows in the city at all, but do your best to balance that with new interactions.
  • The locals are back to not giving any information, freezing up when asked questions, and generally being incredibly unhelpful. Characters are mostly on their own in this. Also, the shield around the city is up again, so characters can't leave.
  • If your characters have jobs with non-locals and miss work, they will not be fired. Their job is on hold for the next two weeks. All characters will have a bank account of a thousand dollars, but can't access any of their money beyond that.
  • For the duration of the plot, any and all network communication or comms from before the plot will be completely inaccessible, as if they don't exist. No matter how good your character is at hacking, they will not be able to find any information on the networks. They will be completely blank, save for new posts made during the plot.

In addition, characters will be waking up in the site of their new living arrangements, rather than the library. For the duration of the plot, all characters will be living in a communal building. There is a living area, a large sleeping area with lots of cot beds, bathrooms and an area for washing up, and a kitchen area with plenty of room. Characters will all be required to live here for the course of the two weeks the plot will last. This is to further ensure that characters interact and branch out.
  • While the plot is taking, the apartments will be gone as will any other buildings and locations brought to Colligo by the Collector (the Sanctuary, the X-Mansion, Stark tower, the TARDIS).
  • Characters will not be required to spend all their time in the communal housing, but they will be required to sleep and take meals there. This is true for all characters, even those who normally would not eat or sleep.
  • If players try to leave the city three times, they will be confined to the communal housing for forty-eight hours and unable to leave.

Hey, everyone.

As you may have noticed (and if you didn’t, what rock were you under?), the game was gone for all of last night and today. For those still wondering what was going on, no we were not attacked by hackers or vengeful trolls. Basically, we deleted the game temporarily to see who would even notice or acknowledge the fact that the game was gone. We’ve seen a lot of problems, and we feel like the time has come to make a serious stand on how things need to be in this game. We love Colligo and we have put three years into it, and we do not want to see it die. As such, we are going to be taking a firmer stance on things. These are the major problems we have noticed.
  • People are not playing their characters. We have several players who do not play their characters. Activity is important to the survival of the game, and in many cases we just aren’t seeing the necessary activity. If you have too many characters to play them all, you probably need to drop some. We are going to be instituting regular activity checks to address this, though regular does not necessarily constitute monthly. But the fact is, you’re all adults and need to be able to regulate your own play.
  • People are not interacting outside their fandoms. This isn’t everyone, but many players are not having their characters spread out beyond their fandoms. This is a panfandom game. If you want to interact solely with your character’s own fandom, there are fandom-based games for that purpose. We have plenty of characters from lesser-known fandoms who get passed over for interaction because people would rather play with their canonmates, and we have had players bring this problem to us. Characters need to branch out. Soon we are going to have another plot to facilitate this, but it shouldn’t take plots to force you to interact with people.
  • People need to play with players outside their own OOC friendships. Just like lesser-known characters are often passed over, we have plenty of players who are largely ignored, and that is not okay. We’re not saying you need to be best friends with every person in the game, but we want our players to make a concerted effort to branch out and interact with more players than just one or two. This applies to everyone, not just you guys. If you feel one of the mods isn’t living up to this standard, please talk to us. If you don’t feel comfortable talking to one mod because you feel they are one of the ones not acting how they should, then please contact one of the other mods. We are not afraid to call each other on things.

Although not the only issues with the game, these issues are the major ones that we're attempting to tackle right now. In order to even deal with these issues, though, we need your help. That means that we need each and every one of you committed to doing your part and not simply skating by with the bare minimum. We aren't saying Colligo is the only game you can be in. We aren't even saying Colligo has to come first (although obviously we wish it would). We're simply saying that we need you to take personal responsibility for yourself, help us know if there are issues with others so we can deal with them before they become a big issue, and will make a focused effort to branch out both yourself, and your characters, to the best of your ability in order to make Colligo a fun, and welcoming, environment for everyone.

If you don't feel this is something you can do, or that the vision we have for Colligo is not one you agree with, you're obviously free to leave. In fact, we encourage you to do so as it will avoid us having to remove you in the very near future.

For those of you who do want to stick around and be a part of this, please respond to this post. By responding, you are acknowledging that you understand the issues as we've explained them and are going to do your part to help resolve them.

Hey guys!

It's time for a new plot! Tonight at midnight, characters will be changing again. They'll be turning older or younger, changing to different points in their past or future. This plot is going to be fairly lax, but we do have some guidelines.

If you make your character younger, they will not have any memory of Colligo or anyone they've met in the city unless they were still in Colligo at that time (i.e. - Molly, Jude or Damian) or if their younger self has been in Colligo before in a past age plot. They can be from any point in their life, whether or not it has been portrayed in canon, but they cannot be aware of Colligo, excepting the previously mentioned circumstances.

If you make your character older, they must be from either a possible future in Colligo or a possible future from home. These futures do not have to be canon futures, but we do ask that you keep them realistic. Unlike with the AU plot, the likelihood of an apocalyptic Colligo future is very slim.

Feel free to have your characters change multiple times, but try to keep it to a reasonable number. They can also go back to normal whenever you like. You do not have to wait for the end of the plot to do so.

So, at midnight tonight, Asaph is going to be escalating the plot somewhat. Rather than just being cut off from canonmates, characters will be cut off from the major people in their lives. Family, romantic relationships and close friendships are all being blocked off, as well as any people who live together. So if your character's girlfriend or good friend or husband or roommate is from a different fandom, they are no longer safe from the plot. If you're unsure whether a relationship would be impacted, feel free to check with the mods, but if you're unsure we recommend that you say that it is. Enjoy.

Hey everyone.

We don’t like to have to pull out the mod hammer, but we’re disheartened by the response we’ve had to this plot. Or rather, the lack of response. Very few players have actually posted with their characters in a plot we feel is necessary to the survival of this game. We have seen a lack of characters branching out, or outright not playing, and this plot is something we wanted to use to address that. However, most players have not taken advantage of the opportunity we have presented. To be honest, we see a major problem here with players not playing their characters. We really don’t like to be the bad guys, but when we see a major problem within the game we need to address it.

All players need to play in this plot. You all need to do your best to branch your characters out and have them be active. Those who do not engage in the plot, without a reason for not being around, will be removed. This is harsh, but at this point we feel that this is necessary for the health and well-being of the game. Should this continue to be a problem, we may have to look at larger-scale solutions to the issue.

Hey guys!

Time for another plot. We've done this one before, but we think it'll be a good way to get characters branching out and interacting with people they wouldn't otherwise.

Basically for the next two weeks, starting at midnight tonight, nobody will be able to interact with anyone from their fandom. They won't be able to see or hear them in them in person. So, if Charles and Erik are in a room together, they won't actually be aware of each other or able to interact. But if Steph is there, she'll be able to see both of them and talk to both of them. They just won't be able to deal with each other at all. So Charles would hear the things Steph says, but not Erik's responses. Similarly, they won't be able to contact one another electronically, receive any messages from one another, or see anything posted by canon-mates on the network. They also cannot communicate via notes, smoke signals, interpretive dance, shadow puppets or carrier pigeons (sorry, Tesla). Or anything else you guys can think of. They are simply persona non grata to each other. Their names will still be on the plaques and their things will be there, so it's clear they're not gone from the city, but they can't interact.

For two weeks, everyone will be cut off completely from their canon-mates. They'll still be able to interact with anyone else they know in the city, but anyone from their own fandom is off-limits. This extends to entire fandoms. So even though Kitty and Bruce are from different continuities, they're both from the Marvel universe and would not be able to see or talk to one another. Similarly, characters from Doctor Who and Torchwood or Buffy and Angel would not be able to interact, nor would John Constantine and anyone from DC comics, as Vertigo interacts with DC comics. They can check on one another through non-fandom third parties, but we ask that this be kept to a minimum. If we feel like characters are abusing this, we will talk to the players about it.

This extends to children, because we feel the children in the game have formed enough connections to be able to be played without interacting with their guardians. Thus Jack and Meri Winchester would both be affected, and would not be able to interact with either of their parents' fandoms.

To some degree, it will be as if people who cohabitate with canon-mates are existing in parallel versions of reality, where they are unable to be aware of the actions of others. So if Remus is showering or reading a book, or making tea, Sirius will not hear the shower or see a book hovering in the air, or find random tea. They're completely removed from one another. (It'll be sort of like that episode of Buffy when Willow came back to Sunnydale and couldn't interact with anyone because none of them realized she was there and vice versa.) Seriously though, this is not the weirdest stuff to ever happen in Colligo.

Those with abilities that allow them to sense or locate others or communicate in other ways (Molly Suresh, Charles Xavier, Peter Petrelli, etc.) would also not be able to use their abilities on people from their own fandoms. And items like the Marauders' Map and two-way mirrors, or other items that would locate people, won't give their locations.

Hey, everyone!

Time for another plot! Yay! I know you're all super stoked.

We're going back to an old classic: The AU Plot. Basically, this plot is a giant "What If". For the duration of the plot, you can play your characters as if their lives had taken a different path. To be clear, these AUs do need to be based in the character's canon or in an AU Colligo future. For example, an AU where Damian Wayne was raised by Bruce rather than Talia or one where Charles was a female rather than a male (but still basically Charles Xavier) or a version of Claire who's from a hypothetical Colligo future, those would all be fine. Canon AUs (such as alternate futures from Heroes, the End!Verse from Supernatural or different Marvel comic timelines) are also fair game. But try to keep it to alterations in canon. Making your character just a completely different person that in no way resembles canon at all isn't the point of this.

Also, if your character's AU will affect other characters (such as someone being evil or involved with another character or anything like that), please give those players a heads up, just as a courtesy. It's really just polite to do that.

Be creative and have fun with this. As always, you can change your characters multiple times over the course of the plot, so don't be afraid to come up with multiple AUs.

As always, if your character dies in the plot, they will remain dead for the duration of the plot and will return once things go back to normal.

The plot begins tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 15, at midnight, so have fun.

As we said before, we do have another plot starting very soon. Unlike many plots in the game, which are the work of Asaph or a temporary villain he has brought to the city, this plot is more of a character-driven plot. As such, this plot will work a little differently than past plots and we hope that you will enjoy the opportunity.

Scarecrow will be releasing his Fear Toxin around the city, starting Friday night at midnight. For those of you unfamiliar with DC comics or the Batman movies, Crane's Fear Toxin is an LSD-based hallucinogenic compound that causes paranoia and panicked states while also causing people to hallucinate, primarily regarding things that they fear. In larger doses, it can cause more serious overdose symptoms and even death. Behind the cut below, you'll find more information, as well as guidelines regarding the plot.

Hey guys!

With the activity check completed, the month coming to the end, and everyone enjoying their Christmas presents, we had a couple of things that we wanted to address. First off, we're glad that everyone seemed to really enjoy the mistletoe plot (and you do still have a little under a week to do so), and we're particularly glad that it encouraged so many interactions. We love seeing characters thrown together who wouldn't necessarily be so under any other circumstance, and that's one of the things that we want to talk about: more random interactions.

We're all guilty of it occasionally of slipping into a routine of having our characters interact with the same individuals over and over again and why wouldn't we? These are their friends, their family, the people that they feel safe with, but occasionally, it's nice to mix that up. As such, we would love to see more OPEN threads. The city offers plenty of public places for two people (or more) to randomly run into each other and have a conversation, whether it be dramatic, comedic, or just to commiserate over their circumstances. In addition, our upcoming plot might encourage characters to interact with others whom they might not have had anything to do with otherwise in ways that could result in particularly engaging scenes.

And if you can't think of any random meetings between characters, threads are not the only place where you could expand your characters' social interactions. In the past, fail filters, accidental mass texts, and accidental voice posts on vital (embarrassing, sensitive, or otherwise ridiculous) information or situations have yielded an array of various interactions between people who might not otherwise speak with each other. Remember that the PDAs are still consistently glitching so you should feel free to take advantage of these things whenever you like.

We would also love it if everyone tried to spread the wealth around. We adore each and every one of you as players, and we want all of you to experience each others' skill just as much as the next individual. I know it's easiest to thread with those players that you know well and that approaching someone you've never spoken to before can be an intimidating task, but it is always worth the effort that it takes in the end. Who knows? You might end up making a new best friend.

As we already stated, the Christmas in July plot will last through the end of July, and we’ve got a new plot in the works for the upcoming month. We hope everyone is excited because we are!

Hey! Hey guys! Guess what!

IT'S CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

Once again, Asaph has decided to gift his captives with a second Christmas. For the next week, Colligo will be experiencing a mix of winter fun and Christmas cheer. He just wants to give everyone some light-hearted good times after the heavy stuff that's been happening recently, in order to put them in a better mood.

The temperature is going to drop overnight, and starting tomorrow morning there will be snow. The lake in the park is going to freeze over completely (don't worry about the giant squid, the Collector has sent him somewhere warm on the planet for a vacation during this) and it will generally be wintery. Christmas music is going to start playing on radio stations, and Christmas decorations are showing up in stores and around the town. There are lights and wreaths and various other pretty things to notice. In addition, there are life-sized gingerbread houses in the park. And, aside from the harmless decorations, there is...

That's right. Evil mistletoe is back in the city. For those who haven't experienced evil mistletoe before, the city's mistletoe is rather...aggressive. People standing/sitting/yoga-ing under the mistletoe will be compelled to kiss whoever is with them. It might be a chaste peck or a full on snog. You never know what will happen. The feeling will fade once they've kissed, but it does promise to be awkward for all. And, who knows, maybe it'll reveal hidden feelings along the way.

There are also going to be carollers going around the city and singing, as well as Salvation army people armed with bells collecting donation. And the mall has a Santa. It's almost as if the city thinks it's Christmas. And by almost, we mean totally. In addition, every apartment and other residence, will have a Christmas tree. Or maybe Christmas tree isn't the right word. The trees will be decorated to reflect the beliefs and preferences of the individuals (i.e. - Molly will have a Hindu tree, the Doctor will have a TARDIS tree, and Willow and Tara will have a wiccan/Jewish tree). Feel free to be creative with this.

In addition, everyone will be receiving a gift from Asaph. Fill out the form below with some suggestions of what your character might want to receive, be it something from home or something they'd just like to have.



On the evening of July 24, we will post letting everyone know what they have received, and they will receive their gifts on July 25. So please respond by then.

Activity Check

Hey everyone!

It’s time for an Activity Check. As stated in the rules, Activity Checks can be done at the mods’ discretion, and we feel this is a good time for one. Characters will be judged based on activity within the [info]colligo_threads community, in which a character must have participated in a log or thread having taken place between the month of May and now with the thread having a minimum of five comments from each character posted to it. We are also asking for EITHER at least one substantial instance of network activity, OR at least five instances of comm activity. If a character fails the activity check, they will be given their first and only activity warning and are expected to get active with their character in the threads and network communities within two weeks of failing the activity check. If they fail twice in a row or fail to get active within that two week period, it will result in that character's removal from the game.

► This check is for the activity during the months of May and June, 2012, as well as any activity during the week of the Activity Check. Therefore, only threads and comments posted between 05/01 and 07/08 will count for this check.

Hey guys!

Starting this evening, Asaph has another surprise in store for everyone. They'll find that they can't lie. That's right. Asaph is falling back on an old favorite to try and help everyone suss out some of their issues and generally create awkward hilarity for him to enjoy. So starting tonight, June 25th, at midnight (EST), everyone is going to find that they feel an increased desire to tell the truth. Any questions posed to them will have to be answered sincerely, and should they have a rather intense issue weighing upon them, they might have a confession to make in their future.

And to add a bit of pain and amusement to the proceedings, Asaph will be disabling all private forms of messaging on the networks. No filters will work and all attempts to text one another will automatically become mass-texts. The only way to really speak to one person and one person only will be face to face.

Hey guys!

Since it looks like the plot is starting to run its course a bit earlier than we anticipated, we've bumped the end date up a bit. Instead of ending on the 29th as originally scheduled, the plot will now end tomorrow. June 23rd at midnight (EST) everyone will be returning to their standard personality. As always, if you have anything that you wanted to do with your characters that you weren't able to, you are welcome to backdate entries.
