Magical Council for Greater Britain Proposes Home Security Bill DEMPSTER WIGGLESWADE In reaction to the recent kidnappings of four witches and wizards, emissaries from the Magical Council for Greater Britain came before the Wizengamot yesterday to propose a bill. If passed, the Domestic Precautionary Act would ensure that each Wizard's home would be secured with the proper wards, including one that would immediately alert the Department of Magical Law Enforcement of any unwanted entry. In order to ensure proper application of wards, a team would be assembled by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to inspect and further strengthen all wizarding homes in Great Britain. "Many constituents of Great Britain have been incredibly concerned for their safety and the safety of their families since the dreadful kidnappings." Emissary Narcissa Malfoy explained. "The Domestic Precautionary Act is merely an attempt to quell their fears and ensure household security." The act will go to a vote on 2 October, 1980, however there is already much public support. Emissary Charlotte Macnair elaborated on this point, "I have spoken many of my constituents and the response has largely been positive. I am convinced that any with reservations will realize that we are only acting so that we may protect our families from harm." For the few who may oppose this act should it be passed, a form of abstaining will be able to be filled out with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, however it is not encouraged. Emissary Evangeline Macnair implored, "We must take precautions to protect our family, our loved ones, and ourselves. This bill is what will allow every household to sleep peacefully at night, without having to keep a wand beneath our pillows or sleeping with one eye open. The process is simple but the reward is great. I would not recommend anyone to abstain from the wards, though the option will exist." |
