[FIC] TIMW & YNU - Chp 4
Title: This Is My World & You'll Never Understand Rating: NC-17 Pairing: Two OC's - Kyle & Shane, however Clay becomes Kyle's adoptive father. Warnings: Contains a "gay" plot line. Also, Kyle is HIV+ Disclaimer: Don't know Clay, don't know his people, this is just a story I wanted to write for the hell of it. Author/Story Notes: Constructive criticism is always welcomed. If you are just going to leave some hateful comment that serves no purpose as to helping me improve my writing then don't bother commenting at all. I haven't done any fanfiction writing in a long time so I feel like a noob all over again, go figure. This is the third or fourth time that I have rewritten this specific work of fiction. It has never felt quite right to me. Now that I've taken more intensive writing classes I'm giving this another go.
After Clay and I finished eating he volunteered to pay the bill. However, I wouldn’t let him. I drove him back to his hotel. A puzzled came over his face. He turned and looked at me. “Kyle, can I ask you to do me a really big favor?” I was confused, “Um, I guess so,” I replied. His puzzled look turned into a smile, “Would you drive this car back to Raleigh for me? I wanted to go with you but Jerome says I have to fly back with him because of security reasons.”
My heart felt like it was about to leap out of my chest. “Are you shitting me? I love this car. Of course I’ll drive it to Raleigh for you, as long as you’re paying for the gas.” He laughed, “Yeah I’ll pay for the gas. Thanks, Kyle, you’re really a lifesaver. Say, would you want to hang out with me and Jerome for a while tonight?” At this point I wasn’t sure if my mouth was hanging wide open or not but it had felt like my jaw had dropped to the floor. “I’d love to!”
We got out of the car and a valet guy took the keys, jumped into the car and drove away. Jerome was waving at Clay and I to come inside. Now, Jerome is a big guy, so you can see his smile from a mile away. As we sat in his room I played with Raleigh. I didn’t even notice that Clay was standing a few feet away watching and laughing. He came and sat down with us. Clay and I laughed as Raleigh was pushing her little nose under my hand so I would pet her.
There was a knock at the door. Jerome walked over and looked through the peephole. “Password?” he asked. “Sweet Tea,” the female voice replied. Jerome opened the door and in walked Quiana! Raleigh barked and ran over to her. She jumped up and down wanting attention. Quiana picked her up and scratched her behind her ears. She carried her over to her little dog bed and put her down. Then she joined Clay and I on the couch.
“What’s on?” she asked. “National Treasure, the first one,” I said. She had the most amazing eyes I’d ever seen. “I love this movie! I can never get enough of it!” she said as her eyes lit up. Soon enough we all fell asleep watching the movie together.
The next morning I woke up on the couch. “Quiana would totally do that,” I thought to myself as I pulled the blanket off myself and folded it up. Walking into the mini-kitchen she smiled and handed me a bowl of cereal. “Sleep well?” she asked. “I did. Thanks for asking I said with my mouth stuffed full of food.
After I finished eating I asked her if she could get directions from here to Raleigh for me because I didn’t have my laptop handy. “Sure, Kyle! Let me guess, Clay has you driving his car?” she laughed. “Yeah, pretty much, it’s a sweet ride. I wish I could afford something that nice. It’s the car I’ve always wanted. It would just be too much of a coincidence if I got to keep it.”
“Way to ruin the surprise, pal,” Clay said in his cheeky voice. “Wait, back up one minute here, what did you just say?” I asked him. The keys flew threw the air and I grab them before they fell to the ground. “It’s yours, you can have it. Jayne said you were supposed to get this car for your birthday but she didn’t have the cash at the time to get it for you.” He smirked at me as I stared at him in disbelief.
“You do realize he just gave you that car, right? You are a lucky dude, Clay must really care about you if he just bought you a car like that,” she said as the directions back to Raleigh printed. “Here, you’re going to need these. I should probably get you a map of North Carolina too. We wouldn’t want you getting lost now would we?” she said as she handed me the directions. Then it hit me, I’d have to leave Shane behind. I suddenly felt a wave of sadness come over me.
“Why the long face, pal?” he sounded concerned. “It’s just that I’m going to be leaving Shane behind if I move to North Carolina. We’ve been together for a long time and I don’t know if I can just break up with him like this.” I stared down at my feet. “If he wants to, he can come with. There’s too many extra rooms in that big ‘ol house of mine.” He told me as I felt him rub my back.
“I’m going to go take a shower and get ready to fly back home,” he said. “Alright,” I replied, “So um, I guess I’ll just get my stuff together then. Are you taking Raleigh on the plane or do you want me to take her?” I asked him. “You can take her if you want, she’d probably be more comfortable riding with you in the car,” he smiled and went into the bathroom.
I sent Shane a text, “Moving 2 NC. Want 2 Come with?” Then I started digging through my bag. “Where are they? I know they were here when I packed this bag. I’m screwed if I loose them!” I thought to myself. The bottles clanked together and I heard the pills shifting. Trying to keep the bottles hidden I got out the pills I needed and zipped my bag up. Right at that moment Quiana walked in.
“He doesn’t know you’re sick, does he?” she asked as she leaned against the wall. “He knows that I’m positive, but he doesn’t know that my health has been poor lately.” She put her hand on my shoulder, “You’ll have to tell him sooner or later.” I chugged some water and took my pills.
Half an hour later Clay and his people were all ready to head home. I still hadn’t heard from Shane, and I was worried about him. I hoped he was just busy with meetings all day as we were trying to get more funding for our documentary. Raleigh barked at me and I put her on the front seat of the car. “Ready to go, girl?” I asked her. She tilted her head and looked at me with those cute little puppy dog eyes.
About 14 hours later I pulled into Clay’s driveway. Finally, I could get some very much so needed sleep. Road trips like this one exhaust me. Raleigh jumped out of the car as soon as I opened the door and ran up to Quiana who was waving at me from the front steps. I grabbed my duffel bags and followed her into the room I’d be staying in. It was so big but totally my style. It was like Clay knew exactly the kind of things I liked. I absolutely loved it! On my pillow was an envelope with my name on it but it wasn’t in Clay’s handwriting.
I tossed it to the side and figured I could read whatever it was after I woke up the next day.
