Edward rolled his eyes. She was at least partly observant, he could give her that much. He'd tease her like he did to Bella. "I do agree that night is quieter, I wouldn't go so far as to say better than the daytime. Each has its drawbacks. Getting back to what I am though...I'd like to hear your theories, actually." He smiled again, almost in a mocking type fashion. This should be moderately interesting.
Max wasn't entirely sure what her theories were on what he was just yet. Yes, she had met a few strange people in this place, but she hadn't spent enough time here to know what was really going on, or what kinds of people were here. She certainly hadn't spent enough time with this man to know anything about what he could be. The only thing she knew was that he could hear her when she was being silent, and that he was a bit whiter than most people. "My theories...? Just tell me what the dealio is."
"At least you're straight to the point." Edward sighed. Of course she wouldn't have any idea as to what he was, especially without being able to see him....clearly. He was paler then most, after all, being immortal comes paired with being pale. In his situation, anyway. "Honestly, I doubt you would believe me if I told you. I don't fit into...the regular classification of my...species." He fidgeted a little bit.
Max didn't understand why he thought she wouldn't believe her. There were a lot of people here who she didn't know existed. She wasn't putting anything past this guy, but apparently he was something she had heard of if he said he didn't fit the normal classifications and that was why she wouldn't believe him. She had also displayed some talents, as he put it. He must have known that she wasn't completely human. "Try me... I've seen some whacked out things in my time." Her mind traveled to the Nomalies in the basement of Manticore. She laughed inside her head at the visuals of the monsters of her childhood.
Edward paused. Give up his secret so soon? He doubted the Volturi were here, and she wasn't human herself. She had just as much to lose as he. Besides, he could use an ally right about now here. "I was born in 1901, in Chicago. At the age of 17, I stopped aging. I will never look any older than I am right now. I do not eat food, and I do not sleep. I can tell you that garlic, holy water, sunlight, and wooden crosses do nothing to affect me, however." He stopped, shifted his weight, and looked at Max.
With the description that he gave her, he emphasized all those specific things that weren't weaknesses. She thought that they might have supposed to have been weaknesses but ended up not part of the actual species. "Hmmm. So you're a vampire. Nice. That's way more interesting than the genetically engineered killing machine that I am. I'm Max, by the way." She wasn't sure if she should tell a vampire what she was, but if he hadn't attacked her by now, it probably meant he wasn't going to.
