Max was confused by his coming out into the open. How did he know she was there? When she jumped to where she was, she made noise, but not enough noise a normal person would have heard from where he came from. She wasn't sure about this guy. He didn't look to be any older than she was, maybe even younger. She used her extremely good eyesight in the dark to make out his face to see if there was anything strange about him.
She could only come to on conclusion in her head. He must be another transgenic from Manticore. That was the only way that he could have known that she was there. She wondered what kind of DNA was in his Manticore cocktail. He probably had the standard. She decided to come out and she jumped down from her perch, and landed only about three feet from him. She straightened her back to look him in the eye, that's when she noticed them. Topaz eyes, that was something new.
Edward was almost laughing. Him, from whatever Manticore was? DNA cocktail? Sounded more like an alcoholic beverage. He had assessed her to be in her early 20s, maybe late teens. Slightly older physically, but he doubted she was as old as him. She was definitely not a vampire. "You're talented. Not quite a human, I've gathered that. I'm impressed that you heard me, though." Edward smiled his infamous crooked smile that Nessie and Bell adored so much.
Max raise an eybrow at his attempt at a cute smile. She didn't do cute. He must not be a soldier if he didn't understand who she was at that. He was impressed that she heard him. What is this guy? she thought as she stood there trying to figure him out. "Yeah... talented. That's a good word for it." She thought she was more like a genetically engineered killing machine, than talented. " And I'm impressed that you heard me."
Attempt at a cute smile? He just did what came naturally to him. Of course he wasn't a soldier, that should have been obvious from the beginning. He doubted she'd figure him out anytime soon. "It was the simplest adjective I could find." Genetically engineered killing machine? Manticore, that must have something to do with it. "You were much quieter than most...individuals I have come across, I can say that. I'm just surprised to see someone else awake and all hours of the night like myself. It's usually very boring." He shifted his weight to look human.
Max noticed his emphasis on the word individuals. So he had noticed the pure lack of normal people around as well."You were pretty quiet yourself. You must not be normal, i would have heard you coming from about two streets over if you were."
She had forgotten that it was so late, but this made her wonder even more over why he was out at the moment. "dealio is, i just don't sleep." She and Jondy had always been the ones that didn't really sleep, they used to joke that they had shark DNA in them or something. She smiled at the memory of Jondy.
Edward nodded. "Yeah, you could say that I've met my fair share of...interesting people. I'm good at being quiet." She didn't really sleep? Either she did sleep at some point, or she didn't. "So, you don't REALLY sleep? Does that mean you do not sleep much? I do not sleep. Ever. I've got all the time in the world." Edward saw the memory of 'Jondy' and smiled. Friends did make the world go round, and that made him miss his family even more. Edward would bet anything she took a LONG time to figure out exactly what he was.
