WHO: Layla Williams & OPEN (multiple threads welcome!) WHAT: Growing fruits and vegetables. WHEN: Not long after her arrival WHERE: The park nearest the Housing Complex RATING: TBD STATUS: In Progress
With the mindful words of the warning of the serial killer that apparently wore someone else's face still ringing in her ears, Layla made her way to the nearest park with a bit more wariness than she might have otherwise. She didn't want to die, of course, but she also didn't want to eat another bite of those ration bars. In the end, her stomach won out, and she rode an apple tree from her sixth story window all the way to the courtyard below.
Once she was at the park, Layla spent the next few minutes simply walking the overgrown paths and doing her best to create some semblance of order to the nature that surrounded her. Tree roots that were being strangled by weeds were freed, flowers began to bloom in large, aromatic rows , and bushes that were little more than fodder for the ivy were once against bushy and green. Dusting her hands off in front of her, the redhead smiled happily at her progress.
Then she got to work making good on her promise to provide some fresh food for the residents.
A dozen or so fruit trees, some berry bushes of all shapes and sizes, and in the middle was a garden filled with various types of vegetables. Layla wasn't sure how many people were in the city of New Hope, but she wanted to be prepared. And, nearly half an hour after she started, she had to admit that she was more than ready for just about anything they might want to eat.
Sitting down on the ground beneath the cluster of trees, Layla cut her gaze up to the artificial sunlight shining down from overhead and took in the newly restored natural beauty around her as she waited for people to arrive.
