She had just done a swan dive off the roof of a tall building, just like she had done many times before. Then something happened, the chord didn't catch her like it always did and she wasn't about to cut the glass to get into a well-secured office building to steal something. She really didn't care what she was stealing, as long as she could steal it. When Sophie had asked what she bought with the payout from the last job, she had replied simply, with one word, "nothing". They just didn't seem to realize that she didn't like things. She liked the thrill of jumping off buildings, of scaring people to death, of playing this game she had recently started playing. She didn't mind playing for the good guys for a change, as long as she could steal be in it for the thrill... and, of course, the money, which was one thing, she truly loved.
Why hadn't the chord caught by now? She thought as she realized the lights around her were becoming brighter. The last she checked, it was 1:30 in the morning. The sun shouldn't be coming up,but this light just kept getting brighter and brighter, until it enveloped her completely. Then she saw it, the ground. The ground was close enough to her as if she had fallen from the ceiling of the room she was landing in, and she wasn't in the same place as she had jumped from.
Then she hit. It didn't seem to hurt, not yet anyway. At least she wasn't dead. She must have slowed down before she hit, because the pain wasn't as much as she expected it to be. She even felt like she could still stand up. She opened her eyes to find she was inside a room, that even had a ceiling. She didn't understand how she could have gotten here. She stood up to find a video monitor with a man on it telling her about what was going on. This video presented so many questions, and everything it said, she didn't quite believe yet. The more it said, the more she believed, and the more she wanted to get out to find out where she was and what was around that she could have fun with. She still had her gun that she kept in case of emergencies during a job. If there were any people around here, she could certainly scare some people with that. She wouldn't hurt anyone, but scaring them would be fun. As soon as the video came to an end, she took the paper and headed outside to find some unwilling victims for her scary tactics.
