WHO: Max Guevara, Eliot Spencer WHAT: First Arrival WHERE: The Welcome Center and Streets surrounding RATING: PG STATUS: Complete!!
Max had just left Logan’s apartment narrowly escaping killing him with the virus that was inside her yet again. All she wanted in life right now was to get rid of this virus and be able to even touch the man she loved. She stopped just outside the door to her apartment because she knew if she walked inside she would most definitely be asked what happened, and why she was home so early by her roommate. She wasn’t ready for that and needed to compose herself in order to get ready for that.
Once she was ready to face the roommate, she opened the door and was immediately enveloped by a white light. She woke up on the floor of a very small, dark room listening to a voice that seemed to be recorded because of the fact that it was stuck on a loop of the word “welcome”. She stood up and faced a video screen which was the source of the looping word. She wanted to get out of that room, and she tried the door and it was locked, “great...” she said to herself, “another cage.” .She also thought, “ I wonder who has me this time, and whether they actually think I won’t be able to break out again.” She kicked the wall, hoping that would get the video off the loop. She was getting tired of hearing that word over and over again. It worked and the video continued its sentence, “Welcome to the city of New Hope, new arrival.” She decided that she didn’t have anything better to do and she would watch the video. A clock showed up on screen that had the date on it as well, and she couldn’t believe what she saw. The year was 2030. This video was trying to tell her that the light wasn’t something shooting her, it was something that jumped her forward in time. She listened as the video explained what had supposedly happened to the world and how she had gotten there, but the thing that kept being repeated throughout the video was the statement, “You must never leave New Hope.”
Never leave? She had been locked up too many times in her life to accept that she could never leave a certain place. Manticore had taught her that. She decided she would figure out a way to leave this place. She wasn’t going to believe that it was actually the truth. The video had said that the world was uninhabitable on the outside of the dome. Obviously that was just a lie they were telling everyone they captured to keep them inside. They didn’t seem to realize that she was immune to most biological warfare, and even if it was the truth, the supposed virus probably wouldn’t affect her. The only thing she knew was the truth was that she had to find a way out.
As the video came to an end, a paper printout came from under the video screen and she heard a click from the door and she tried to open it again. It opened, and with the paper in hand, she left on her mission to find a way out.
