WHO: Layla and Warren WHAT: Meeting up for the first time since arriving. WHEN: Afternoon; Valentine's Day WHERE: The yet-to-be-opened shopping district RATING: TBD STATUS: In Progress
Although people who knew her might find it impossible to believe, Layla was actually getting a little tired of hanging around the local parks and nature trails that outlined the silent metropolis of New Hope. She'd done what she could to ensure there would be fresh fruit for people to eat, as well as made many areas a lot prettier to look at, but truth be told Layla was getting a little lonely. Aside from people wanting help with food, and those who she'd met randomly, she didn't know anyone and didn't really know those all that well, aside from their names.
Back home, whenever she'd felt down and she couldn't speak to Will about it, she tended to go to the park. When the park failed - which was the odd yet very real case at the moment - she did what any other girl did.
She went shopping.
Unfortunately, with the lack of people in the city that also meant a significant lack of shops. Granted there were buildings where shops could go. There were also warehouses of goods to go into the shops, she was willing to bet. But at the moment, the shopping district was a relative ghost town.
So Layla had taken to simply seeing the sights. Not that large, empty buildings were much to see, but getting a general idea where things would be if people were around was an interesting way to pass the time at least. Better than sitting around, feeling sorry for herself.
Currently, she was studying a large building that could pass for either a hospital or a really big department store - she wasn't sure which - and trying to imagine people coming and going through the large doors that seemed to make up most of the glass-plated front wall of the structure. She was so busy wondering why there was a loading ramp when there wasn't an ambulance or a delivery truck around best she could tell, that she rounded the corner still completely lost in her own thoughts.
And promptly slammed into someone's rather firm chest.
Stumbling back a bit, Layla swayed on her feet ever so slightly. Her eyes widened a bit as she sucked in a surprised breath, then nearly popped out of her skull when her gaze landed on the person she'd crashed into. The apology that was on her lips died instantly and her expression went from surprised, to shocked, to thrilled in mere seconds.
"Warren!" Layla's excitement seemed to be almost double its normal intensity in the silence that filled the streets, but she didn't care. "Oh my God, Warren! I'm so glad to see you!" And without any further adieu, the redheaded self-proclaimed sidekick promptly threw her arms around Warren Peace's neck and hugged him as though she hadn't seen him in years.
