Coming up the stairs to Arthur's apartment, Lorena ran a hand through her wet hair, pushing a few strands away from her face. She had never worked a day in her life, and there was a strange satisfaction in doing something so easy and getting paid for it. As a kid, one of those entrepreneurial kids who wanted to be the town baby-sitter but quickly realised that kids are really just a paint in the butt, she'd taken a CPR class, and eventually got her life guard license. She didn't know that actually doing life guarding would be so easy.
She got to sit around in her bathing suit, drinking up rays (the few rays that Gotham was afforded), and yelling at kids to stop running. She even got a whistle. She got to have a ten minute break every three hours, kicking all the grumpy kids and parents out of the water while she gave the pool a quick skim with the net on a stick, and took a quick dip to cool off. A couple of the older kids tried to hit on her, newly into their "manhood" and looking for any opportunity. She'd been almost statuelike - statuesque? Stoic. Whatever. She was stony-faced, and looked like a badass the whole time. It was awesome.
Coming into the apartment, she smiled at Arthur. "Hey, I thought John was coming today?" she asked before going into her room. "I'm going to take a shower!" she called out, before shutting her door and stripping out of her jeans, t-shirt and bathing suit.
