It had been almost two months since Megan had taken up her new job, for her old boss. In that time she'd been restricted to delivering messages within District X. He hadn't wanted the obviously mutated girl to get into any trouble. This day was different. He'd needed the delivery to be made in a rather expedient manner and hadn't had anyone else to do it. Megan had been sent, and everything had gone fine. She'd dropped off the package and was just starting to head home when the sky cracked and the rains began. At first, it wasn't a big deal, but the longer she was out, the more drenched she was getting. It eventually became too hard to fly and she was forced to land.
The pink haired girl had wrapped her arms around herself, tucked her wings in tight against her back, wiggled out of her jacket and then tossed it on over them to half hide them. She scampered down the stairs of the subway and out of the rain, gasping as a crack of thunder boomed above. She hated the subway stations. Dark and echoing, like a cave, and with the hushed, damp atmosphere from the sudden storm, it was even more cavelike. She dropped a coin into the till and slid past the turnstyle on her way to the train, soaked to the bone and trembling, or was it shivering. hardly mattered, she was miserable, frightened and soaked as she stepped through the doors and grabbed one of the poles.
