Maya was normally a nice lady, if shy, but that was post-coffee. Before coffee, she was a downright grump, so when an unfamiliar presence joined her on the bench she'd chosen for her morning routine, she was not inclined to offer the friendly smile she might otherwise have given. His approach was unique enough to catch her attention - watching limbs elongate unnaturally and then shrink back to normal was eye-catching, but she was a two-year veteran of the cirque and so it wasn't quite unusual enough to warrant any comment just yet.
She grunted faint assent when he askd her name, holding up one hand, index finger extended in the universal symbol to 'wait.' The hand stayed up while she grabbed the tumbler with her other hand - but the computing didn't stop. Text continued to scroll across one window, while various scans and other random windows opened and closed on her screen without any seeming input. While that went about its business, Maya was busy downing all the coffee in her mug.
When she finished, she set the empty tumbler down and yawned so loudly her jaw cracked. "Good morning," she said finally, sliding on her glasses and offering him one of her surprisingly sweet smiles. "Yes, I'm Maya. Nice to meet you, Oliver." She indicated the coffee. "Sorry. I'm not at my best before coffee and it was a bad night. What can I do for you?"
