Esme may look and act young, both in her human and wolf form, but she knew the song well. It had been out for about ten years when the wolf was born and it had still been popular. Played on the radio many times in her younger years. When she was young it was just another pretty song, but the words resonated with her more now. A wolf lost and alone for twenty two years knew the sound of silence better than most.
The corners of her lips drew up in a smile that looked almost human, soft eyes drooping slightly in content. Not making any move to come out from her little hiding spot when he was still playing. She just let herself get lost in the music. Reminiscing on times of running through damp fields giggling in human form and rolling around in flower beds as her wolf. It wasn't until the song was coming to its close that Esme really looked at Oded again.
He was right of course, she didn't really fear him. No more than she did any other stranger. And the chairs she was hiding under seemed far enough away from him. She had quick reflexes. She could get away if he looked like he was going to attack, but he looked too relaxed. That gave her the confidence to shift her white paws forward. Wiggling her furry four legged form out from under the seat, inch by inch, until all five and a half foot of her was free. Tail flicking back and forth curiously as she stretched her long body out. Front paws down and her hind quarters stuck up the air.
On reflection, laying under a low chair may not have been her smartest idea. But, hey, she got a song out of it, so she wasn't complaining. She turned from the man and hopped up onto the chair she'd just been laying under. Paws padding at the soft material like a bird trying to make it's nest and when she deemed it comfortable enough she lay down. Back legs practically buried under her brown and black fur but her front dangled over the edge. She wasn't sure if the man knew she was a werewolf or not...maybe he just thought she was an unusual wolf that had wondered its way into the circus. If he thought she was a puppy she'd be a little upset...Everyone thought she was a puppy.
