The growl surprised him, but Oded didn't fear the little wolf. It was true he had no desire to be bitten by the creature, but it would be the hassle of The Management that he was looking to avoid. He was new to the Cirque and they frowned upon inter-cirque killings. Pity, empathy, compassion, these were human emotions he did not feel. He could simulate those emotions, when necessary, but the deference he showed the little wolf was partially that which he extended to the other Cirque members and partially a curiosity to see how he could corrupt or benefit from this acquaintance.
When the wolf disappeared, Oded shrugged a shoulder and refilled his glass, assuming that the creature had left, off into the woods beyond judging from the rustling. He began strumming idly, making up a melody that danced along and he was surprised when a young woman stepped onto his deck with a suitcase five minutes later. She smelled of the wolf and the expression on her face was only outdone by the inviting curves of her body. How long had it been since he'd had an innocent? Oded arched an eyebrow, but his gaze raked slowly done her form.
Setting his guitar to the side, Oded rose and, tilting his head, looked down at the young shape shifter. "In the polite human world, one introduces oneself first, Red," he told her quietly, but firmly. She had come into his territory - twice - uninvited and he had been kind, but if she believed he would not defend himself, she was more naive than he believed. "You know I did nothing to you. I requested a touch and you assented. It was a fair bargain. I offered my word with no remuneration in curtsy to a fellow Cirque. If you wish to know more, I will require... compensation."
