He stared down at the bladed boots that she thrust into his arms, one fingertip experimentally running over the blade. It was not sharp enough to slice his skin open, but with enough force... that thought was never able to fully establish itself as the small brunette flounced off toward a vacant bench, leaving him little options but to follow her. He grumped over and took the seat beside her, discreetly watching how she laced her boots before he leaned down to mimic the motion on his own boots so that he was secured into them. There. This wasn't so hard.
He shoved his sneakers under the bench, and eyed her extended hands, pointedly refusing to take them with a displeased flattening of his mouth. Pushing himself to his feet, he wobbled for a moment but quickly found his balance, giving her a defiant look before he marched around her to stand at the edge of the ice. There were so many people, he noted with distaste, and was tempted to blow the whole thing off.
But Violetta was at his side, and he had only to glance down into her excited face to know that that was not going to be an option. Besides, they were already here.
Sighing, he stepped out onto the glassy surface with an uncharacteristic trepidation... it did not take him long to find his center of balance and compose himself. Balance was one of the key components to fighting, after all. He took one experimental slide, and then another, too fixated on his feet to really notice if Vi was still with him or not.
