Fox stared back, sure that this level of scrutiny must have been the proper way to greet someone who’d gone unseen for over a decade. Orion was both deeply changed and very much the same. He’d grown, of course. He wore a man’s scruff where there had once been a boyish glow. His eyes were mostly he same, though, as well as that easygoing aloofness she remembered well.
“Forest dog,” she giggled, recalling the translation. She couldn’t remember which of his family members had yelled that at her first as she zipped in and out of bushes and shrubs, snapping up their food and leavings. It had been her first real taste of ‘people food,’ and more importantly, interaction with other supernaturals.. “Notorious F.O.X.” Fox beamed. “Are you here by yourself, or with family?” She asked, driven by multiple interests. It was lovely to see old acquaintances. Baba Violette’s sweet treats were worth revisiting, too.
“Yeah, hardly anyone noticed. I have three tails now!” She stayed proudly with a lift of her chin. When last she’d seen him, she’d had only two. Her magic and illusions had gotten proportionately stronger. “It’s been nice so far. Only a few people I don’t like.”
