Listening closely to Eric's explanation, Gabe once again looked around the trailer. His eyes caught on the bed, the knowledge that his host slept underneath it rather than in it explaining why it seemed so pristine. In stark contrast, Gabe's trailer was obviously occupied by a human, and a messy one at that. Now that he thought about it, Eric's trailer seemed the perfect fit for him. The Management of the Cirque really did think of everything.
"You don't have to do that!" Gabe exclaimed, watching as Eric fiddled with the thermostat. He was a guest, an intruder of sorts despite the invitation, and he didn't want Eric to make himself uncomfortable for his benefit. Still, he took the blanket gratefully before wrapping it around his shoulders with a smile. As soon as the merman moved away to fix their drinks, Gabe readjusted the heat settings in what he thought was a sneaky way, though it was clear by now that nothing he did was ever subtle.
After the comment regarding humans and how they tasted, Gabe appreciated the reassurance from Eric that he didn't bite. With a chuckle that held only a hint of nerves, Gabe joined him on the bed, leaning down to unlace his shoes before toeing them off and mimicking Eric's position. "I remember what you said," he uttered, taking a large gulp of vodka and instantly regretting it as the liquid burned a trail down his throat. At least he didn't splutter or start coughing. "No thinking, just feeling. Not a big deal."
Looking up from his glass, Gabe pulled the blanket around his shoulders a little tighter as he allowed himself the luxury of taking in the sight of the man sitting beside him, his eyes drinking in the finer features that he hadn't noticed when Eric had been swimming earlier. He really was a ridiculously handsome man, even if a small voice inside of his head reminded Gabe that Eric wasn't human despite how much he looked like one. In a way, that made things all the more exciting.
