Oliver had been in the middle of taking a gulp of his drink when she said that the scroll she had just given him had been taken from the library of Alexandria. Naturally, he choked on the mixture of alcohol and orange juice, because, yes, while he could get on board with a circus of supernatural beings and gifted humans, knowing that he had something from the library of Alexandria was a bit too much for him to process. "Then it is even more precious to me." He said after a long moment of trying to work out what to say. "I will keep it safe and work hard on its translation."
She spoke again and Oliver inclined his head. "You are right, of course. I took comfort in that, during my youth, in the fact that my mind was more agile than my body." And that he was smarter than everyone around him, that helped as well, but it didn't seem like he could count on that here, not when he was talking to someone who had been in the library of Alexandria.
Oliver quieted as she gazed up at the night sky, sipping at his drink and hoping that their pleasant conversation meant that he was making a friend. It felt odd, to have to think like that, like a child trying to impress people on the playground, but he wouldn't last long here if he couldn't make connections.
"I am glad." Oliver replied when she finally spoke again, refilling his own glass with a mixture of vodka and orange juice and doing the same with hers, just in case she wanted another one. "I like sharing new experiences. You've had your first screwdriver and I get to try to learn hieretic."
