When her head touched his chest, Kennet stepped back away from her letting stay in place while he created a distance again. Kennet held up his hand, the cracks of fire still licking at the air around them. His jaw firmed while he thought in silence. "I will not take from you like the captor in your past. I do not wish to betray your trust," he sighed. "That is not to say I am of a state that wishes to be treated like some mongrel who merely needs love."
Kennet looked toward the burnt corpse of the human he killed. "The blaze may be hushed but it is not gone." He closed his eyes again and breathed out. "An emotion consumer came about the breaking of their abilities in my presence and to keep the human from dying to them I had to take the excess. And then the succubus dared to entwine themselves with me as if they would be free from harm as well. I merely explain this so you may know that I am not some Careless Djinn. I still seek more energy. I wish to be consumed by it."
