Maddy froze, feeling the breath on her ankles as the creature sniffed at her. That woman had just...caved in when he pushed on her head. The terror had crawled up her throat, she could taste bile on the back of her tongue. Of course Maddy had wanted to make sure she would be safe, and if that meant sending her into the Wendigo's waiting claws, well...so be it. But dammit, why hadn't she just run off? What good could have come from sticking around?
The fabric behind her tore with a wrenching sound, and Maddy gasped, scrambling backward, away from those wickedly sharp claws. No no no, this was not how she was going out. Security be damned, now she was well and truly scared. His roar practically blew her hair back, and she let out a strangled scream. She pushed herself up from the ground as fast as she could, growling in frustration and panic when she stumbled again. Now was not the time.
She took off back the way she had come, weaving through tents and pathways, throwing occasional glances over her shoulder to see if he was behind her. She might have tried to find something bigger and scarier than him, if it had been anything else. But that thing was 13 feet tall, and capable of crushing a person with his bare hands. She couldn't think of anything bigger or scarier than that right now. So she ran.
