"I was not yet asleep," he smiled. Zane did not consider himself to have a cheerful disposition nor a negative one, he had practiced patience and tried to be kind whenever he could. Visitors were a rare treat in his life, before and after taking in Nora. The vampire could be social and welcoming, but there was a comfort in the silence of solitude.
Lowering his eyes in a shy grin, Zane nodded. "Well, come inside and we can talk more." While he might not have been happy with the timing of his return to the Cirque with someone who needed help as much as Nora did, he could be happy that his friend had found her place there and had evolved in the process. He had been so unsure of the ghost in the rosary the first time she appeared to him. Spectres did not make him fear for his life, nothing could really press a fear of death into the mind of someone who accepts fate, but a female ghost appearing from his rosary had been a very strange experience in a life full of strange experiences.
Once inside, Zane took the beautiful wooden box that had been presented to him. His fingers ran over the outside, appreciating the work of a simple crafted item before opening the box itself. He smiled softly, a sorrow fleeting across his eyes as he picked up the rosary. His thumb running over the old wood and new fittings. "Thank you, Siri." Tears welled in his green eyes yet did not fall.
Ignoring her change of subject, he pulled her into a hug. Zane had never been one to hug another when unneeded, respecting people's spaces and not wanting to tempt himself to drink more than he should. Such a gift meant so much in his life Zane could not help himself. "After I left it for you, I never bought another one. So I appreciate this with all of my heart."
Letting go of her, he gestured to one of the chairs in the small living room area. "Nora is not my childer. She had been turned by someone that left her to starve and die. I had found her and took her in to help her with control and learning how to adjust to this life."
