“No one could think that’s your work,” Jim spoke from behind the both of the sirens, having slipped through the growing crowd to get a look at the kill. News was spreading quickly. Arms crossed over his chest, he narrowed his eyes at the mess soiling the aquarium. He couldn’t be sure if it was suspicion about this unexpected hiccup in the night’s events, or a vague sense of solidarity for his fellow man-eaters, but he didn’t like where the blame for this might land.
The corpse was floating by with the tank’s current again. He’d just finished a hearty evening meal himself, or the sight would have made his stomach protest, greedy as always. A large chunk of thigh meat topped with a light marbling of fat swirled by. He lifted his head, gesturing towards it. “That’s prime flank steak. Only an idiot would waste that. No suspects?"
