It was weird how everyone seemed to know everything about her. Well, not everyone, but that contract had been creepy enough. She had taken the gamble because it was better than being out on the streets with winter well on its way.
Emika sighed, gaze flicking to the mess of cards on the floor, then back up to him. "I'm sure you have a lot of fun here," she said evenly, while sending out an experimental thought, get out of my head. It would be interesting to see what happened. If that was how he knew about her "whole lot of homes" and her name and what her power was or if it was simply because he had somehow got ahold of her history somewhere else.
Looking back down at the cards, she lifted them all off of the ground. They were light, so it didn't cause her much strain and she sent them swirling about in a mini-card tornado before piling them neatly into her outstretched hand. One fluttered to the ground but she was quick to pick it up again. She walked closer and set the stack on the stage.
