Mona grinned and clapped with delight at his trick and exclaimed, "an escapologist! Like Houdini and Murray before him!" She reached out and picked up the handcuffs and said, as she raised her gaze back to him: "So cool! I'd love to learn some if you'd ever want to teach me."
Then, realising she could probably encourage it with a complementing skill of her own she said, "okay, hang on, wait," and snapped one of the cuffs around his wrist again and the other around her own. From her hair (and with a flourish and a smile) Mona pulled out a hair pin, bit down on it so she could strip the small bit of protective plastic from the tip, and then leaned forward over the lock on her end of the cuffs and fiddled with it.
Unlike Kit who had looked at ease, Mona's expression was one of deep concentration as she tried to focus on the feeling of the ends of the pin against the mechanism. She took a longer than him, but eventually the lock snapped open and she raised her free hand up into the hair. "Ta da!"
