Two things Lila wasn't: mundane human and quiet. The power and privilege that saturated her life combined with her natural personality made it hard to cow her into silence, and it wasn't about to work now. "I know y'all're closed," she drawled as she approached, boots clicking quietly on the floor. "I'm not here for a snack, darlin'; I came by to be neighborly and all." She glanced around, careful not to disturb his setup; he was new to the job, and she didn't want to screw anything up for him while he was still getting used to the place. "I even brought you a present."
Reaching into her bag, she pulled out the package inside, roughly the size of a shirt box and giftwrapped in a glossy black paper flecked with gold. "A little 'welcome to the family' gift, if you will," she said, giving him her most charming smile. She'd knocked grown men flat with that smile before, though she had a feeling it would be less effective on Sir Grumpsalot. "Go on," she encouraged, holding out the box. "Don't be shy, now."
