The dunk tank booth had been set up not far from the lagoon area in hopes to draw patrons into the more surreal setting of the lagoon with a simple, yet common carnival game. Finnerty had been adamant about not wanting to be one of the girls on display as mermaids, even if she were the only actual mermaid in the circus. It was for the best to let the sirens play those games and for Fin not to feel so exposed to the humans. It did mean that her costume for the dunk tank had to cover the fins that appeared on her arms and legs, but it was worth it.
Finnerty ran up to Christian and hugged him. "He's not dead yet," she answered looking back at the paralyzed man. "I- I didn't know what else to do. I'm not sure how long the toxin will last." Nor did she know if the toxin would seep far enough into the system to paralyze his lungs and kill him slowly. It was never an exact science when it came to various humans.
