"I don't need or want your pity," Felix said quickly, seeing her expression change. Then he understood why her expression changed when she told him how she understood. "I..." he started to say and then shook his head. "The trust is definitely difficult," he then finally said. It was strange to feel a kinship with her, knowing that she could understand him, to connect with him.
"Security? Something like that," he gave a small chuckle. "Shadow puppets? I mean...I don't know how exciting that would get, but I could do it," he gave a one shoulder shrug, his other hand going out to rest on her hip. The shadows swirled around them, keeping the two of them in a slight vortex. He felt safer in the shadows, calmer. The shadows had kept him alive for a majority of his life.
