There was a laugh from within the building and honestly, he was glad she missed the slightly relieved look on his face when he heard her call his name. "Do you have to sound so surprised?" The man asked, loud enough for her to hear, as he tilted his chopping block onto a angle and let the vegetables fall into the pan. Placing it back on the work surface so he could walk to the door.
When the man finally appeared at the door he was all in black, his usual working attire, a smirk pulling slightly on the corners of his lips. "It's hardly a date if I don't offer food," was his grand reasoning, stepping back even as his hand settled on her lower back so he could guide her inside. "I'm afraid you don't get any option in the matter." His playful tone was as warm as ever. As if she hadn't been avoiding him for the last few days. He was just glad she'd showed up and seemed to like the gift.
His home was reasonably spacious, the wall behind his couch covered in swords and the occasional shield. Some were older than others and one in particular seemed close to the sword he'd given her. It suited him. The perfect mix of old and new.
"You've been avoiding me," the man noted, taking her free hand in his larger palm as he looked down at her. He was looking for a reason. And he really hoped it was about the drunken night and not because she'd seen his form when the hunters came and it had frightened her. He was pretty sure Cat had dragged Ana away just in time to avoid that sight.
