The Wonderland Gardens could make anyone feel small. That was sort of the point. Upon entering, it instantly became clear that this was not an ordinary botanic garden, as every plant was grown to be exponentially larger than was deemed 'normal' by scientific standards. And so visitors could wander the pathways much like a shrunken Ms. Lidell after one too many sips of "Drink Me", privy to examining the flora of the region in moderate safety. Moderate because there was no real guarantee on Jade's temper, and there had been the one instance where a bored-sounding individual had called the attraction 'the lame rip-off of that Honey I Shrunk the Kids park at Disney' and had been immediately expelled from the tent by his feet, courtesy of a vine of gigantic proportions.
Currently the Garden was warm and humid, every room crowded with seemingly uncontrolled greenery, climbing foliage and bursts of colorful blooms that reached almost to the ceiling. It was a contained, verifiable jungle ecosystem, right down to the giant banyan trees that intricately framed the entryway through which Ava entered, perfectly imitating the growth covering the ancient Cambodian ruins beyond.
Jade was, as she had guessed, well aware of her presence the moment she stepped inside. He wouldn't know it, but he looked a bit of a mess, what with his hair in a wild state of dishevelment and dark smears of dirt streaked across his face, both indicative of the hard work he'd put in that day. Grinning crookedly around the cigarette in his mouth, he made his way toward her, navigating the flora effortlessly. He had to duck under a Volkswagen-sized frond to appear next to her. "Yo," was his cheery greeting. "Was startin' to think you wouldn't show. I was tempted to scare you a little but... seemed like bad timing." He shrugged. People were still really on edge. "How you holding up?"
