Getting close to the barrier reminded Alex of heat waves coming off the pavement, only in his mind. Anger and fear roiled throughout it, but at the moment, trying to cross it didn't seem like the best idea. Issac was too tense, too on alert, and Alex felt like pushing him would end very badly.
