He hadn't meant to startle her. When she jolted, it made him jump a little too. "Sorry.." he shook his head, "i'm okay. I've been asleep." She could have woke him up. But it was just as well.
His brows furrowed when she said she hadn't been a good anything... but he didn't disagree. Dropping his gaze back down, he gave another gentle shake of his head. Reaching up to rub at the back of his neck, he worried his lip with his teeth. "Not always.. just..lately," he murmured. "But I'm glad you came," he looked back up at her with a hopeful look. He was just trying to be honest.
He looked past her, toward the stove, "I like chicken noodle..." he managed another smile as his focus went back to her, and he dropped his hand back down to his lap to pull the blankets away so that he could get up. "Will you stay and eat some with me?"
