The gargoyle wasn't going to take Meredith's insistence to the contrary for an answer, the panicked blonde could just feel it. Even despite her trepidation that it was too much of a risk, that getting Halle and Bitsy to safety was more of an imperative, Meredith rushed up onto the barely standing countertop and reached for Alexandru's free paw, quietly hating herself for being so selfish to risk all of them by-
Suddenly, they were pulled up as one as if the two women and child weighed nothing. Meredith screamed with alarm, completely taken by surprise by how fast everything happened. Alexandru was all power and speed in those heart-stopping moments. She couldn't even be sure what was really going on past the roll of her stomach and the desire not to do anyting that could jeopardize the gargoyle's managing of all three of them.
When they had dropped that short distance, the full power of gravity pulling them, yelped again with a fright and grappled for Alexandru's arm with the instinct to hold onto something solid. The blonde felt Halle move, that there was, in fact, a ground beneath her feet, that's when Meredith realized she had closed her eyes at some point.
The devastation greeted her. The blasted section of the gate and what looked like three charred remains not that many yards away from them. Bile flooded Meredith's throat and she found herself pulling herself deeper into the protective crook of Alexandru's arm even as he urged them all into his trailer. She looks away from them, those horrific remains even as Halle moved quickly for the gargoyle's door. Meredith forced herself to look away and back up at Alexandru, her eyes brimming with sorrowful tears. She gripped at his rough arm a bit tighter, not caring if it scraped her skin, "Be careful," she urged, the anxiety thick in her voice. Meredith knew Alexandru couldn't stay, there were so many more to protect.
