"I think our type of people are very aware of the cycle of life and death. We respect it more than others might." Orion shrugged. For those of Romani heritage and traditional values, while they had a lot of thoughts on spirits and undead, they also had great respect for ancestors and the flow of life. Ghede and his experiences or kind might have fit very well into Orion's family in that way.
There was a brief look of disappointment as Orion reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette. "Yeah, well, that's where they have me working- though I might have been better fit to train the horses. It's what I was being taught back home. But, I guess if you can withstand fire the better place to have you is in front of the crowds eating it."
Bitsy scooted ever closer to Ghede until she could finally lean her head against his arm as she stared into the fire. "One day Bitsy here will be a dancer, right? She's going to work with me as well as cook." Orion offered with a smile. Bitsy nodded excitedly. "Da," Bitsy answered. "I also want to work with the animals and show Ri off as my pet bird!" She giggled.
