They looked up at about the same moment, after he was certain his coffee wasn't going to hurt the woman, but seeing who it was made him doubly grateful he hadn't spilled it on her. He was exhausted from the lack of actual sleep over the last two days and, frankly, he wasn't even sure he should try to fly, but the desire to stop the nightmares was higher in his thoughts. There were dark circles under his eyes and his hair was ruffled from his anxiety.
"Meredith! Oh, no, please, it was my fault. I wasn't paying attention. I'm just glad I didn't burn you," he apologized quickly, holding the coffee cup tightly. She touched him, her small hand on his chest and Alex sighed heavily, shaking his head. Lying wasn't in his nature.
