But that quiet was certainly shattered when a small child in a pink snowsuit with bunny ears on the hood came running into the tent, shrieking in the happy way that children tend to do. Brighid had decided that she wanted to play in the Ice Garden and although her father had tried to get her to calm down, wait for him, wait until they could warn Conor that they were coming... She had not hesitated. Cass had just made it out of the door, grabbing a hat to cover his ears at the very least.
He felt like he was slacking but the circus was fairly self-sustaining. He did his work in the early hours of the morning while Brighid was still sleeping. Then, when she napped in the afternoon, he worked some more. Sometimes, she went with him. But the Wishing Tree was doing fine and the gardens for the cooks and the apothecary were in their early stages. He had to let them do some growing on their own or else their medicinal properties and flavors wouldn't be as good.
So, a shrieking child into the Ice Garden... Followed by Cassander roughly pulling on the beanie hat and making sure his pointed ears were tucked inside. Brighid was shouting, "Snowman snowman snowman!" But Cass tried to calm her, "You're being very rude. What do we say first?"
Brighid stopped in front of Conor, "... Can I play?"
