"I understand that," Ana said again, reaching for one of his hands. "I also know that sometimes we make bad choices when we're under a lot of stress, lord knows I've done my share. You do have to take care of yourself as well, Callum, you have to do that before you can even think of taking care of anyone else." She used her free hand to take a drink, her mouth was starting to go dry.
"It's only because the smith who made my favorite sword died, and it can't be replaced," she said gently. "I barely touch it, but that's not the point. I really don't think she hates you. I think she's hurt, and pissed, and being angry is easier to focus on than how hurt you are. And you know Catherine, probably better than anyone. She doesn't take being hurt lying down."
