Syssi needed to get out of the Cirque for a little bit. The tension that was building within it's fence was going to drive her insane, not to mention the voices she was starting to hear. The voices that had called her out into the forest the night before, when she had finally been able to change back into her human form. She missed being able to walk around. She asked a few of the roustabouts if they were planning on going into town and when one had said yes, she had asked for a ride. Which is how she had gotten to the mall.
It was a whole different world. Loud pop music played over head and it was brightly lit. One could tell it was summer time by the many groups of teenagers that lingered around shop windows. Laughter and whispered often followed as she walked past them, not doubt completely standing out in her old fashioned sun dress. Syssi had no idea what was cool or 'in' and she really didn't care.
She paused for a moment in front of one window, looking up at the large red sale sign. Anything in there was probably way too much for her...plus she had no use for new clothes. She liked running around the grounds in her slip and robe just find. She kept walking though, until the smell of sugar started to surround her head. Chocolate. She was instantly drawn to the window, pausing as she watched a man with a large white hat come forward with a bowl. He dumped the contents onto a table and started to smooth it around. Laughter caught her attention and her head turned to look at the direction is was coming from. A young couple...holding hands and stealing kisses as they walked. The woman had a bright smile on her face and Syssi couldn't help but drop her eyes, her stomach twisting as her mind wandered into places it didn't need to be. She missed him.
Lifting her eyes, she moved to the food court and found a place that sold milkshakes. Yes...drown your sorrows in ice cream. She thought before finding a place to sit by herself, putting the straw in her mouth and sucking slowly. Letting the sweet, coldness push back all the pain and anger she felt.
