May 22nd - morning WHO: Mal, Maddy WHERE: Mal's trailer WHAT: Girl talk RATING: PG!
In spite of her lingering annoyance with Isaac and her ever present concern for her sister, Mallory had been in a pretty fantastic mood as of late. She had, for the first time in a long time, a genuine, honest to God love interest. There was this thing she did where she'd pretend she was in a movie: if she was walking with earbuds in, it was because she was listening to her own soundtrack, only the really neurotic thing was she was almost never the star of the move. She was the sister, the sassy friend, the sidekick.
It probably said something about her, but delving too deeply into what would be depressing.
But now? Now, she was beginning to feel like the leading lady. Or, at least, a super popular supporting character whose online fan base asked and received a romantic subplot. Which wasn't nothing!
Maddy was coming for breakfast. Mallory had gone out early to explore the new location, taking an Uber to a nearby bakery. She came back with donuts and bagels and coffee for the two of them and when Maddy entered, she gave a wave, proudly sweeping an arm across the tiny two-top table. "I got breakfast," she declared, grandly. "Come sit. I got coffee just the way you like it."
