Esmeralda felt like she'd grown up a lot in the last week. After decades on her own, being around people, and more importantly people who understood her, felt wonderful. Sure, she was still a little shy, but she was coming out of her shell more. Talking to people and not just running away scared. She'd felt on top of the world in Aspen..Here..not so much.
The history of the place felt dense. And eventhough she wasn't in-tune with spirits, it still felt like she was walking by them every time she stepped foot outside. That was one of the reasons she'd got in touch with Ghede, he probably knew that feeling better than anyone. Plus, she'd like to actually meet the man when she wasn't sleep deprived. It wasn't spirits she was afraid of, ghosts were just people who hadn't passed over. It was the hysteria. The thought that people had been killed here just because people thought they were different. That hurt a part of Esme's soul. Because she always tried to be kind to people.
She practically ran over to the man's door when morning broke over the new city, her newly blonde locks flying out behind her as she moved. She wasn't sure if Ghede would even recognize her. She looked a little older without the red hair, wearing a black dress and shoes for a change. Esme hardly ever wore shoes. But she had asked for a walk and if they actually left the circus grounds, she knew she'd look strange walking barefoot down the side walks. She raised her hand and knocked gently on the door, biting her lower lip slightly. "Ghede?" She asked softly through the door. "It's only me."
