"I think it found me, honestly," Maddy replied. "I was at home with nothing to do, and I went out for a walk. I came upon it by accident, and it was, apparently, everything I never knew I wanted. I only left to run home and throw some things into a suitcase."
She shrugged. "Sometimes it just annoys me," she told him. "It's different when it's your hair, and you have to take care of it. Everyone loves looking at it, but it's not their problem. Still. I likely won't, because I'm a little vain about it. But you should grow yours out, if you want to. Change it up." Then she grinned. "I'm gonna hold you to that."
"Yeah," she said wistfully. "Somewhere, there's a picture of me on my 18th birthday, standing underneath the 'Welcome to Vegas' sign and striking some ridiculous pose. All the neon stains everything different colors, things flash and there's fountains everywhere. That would make a good song, if I had any sort of talent for that, I'd probably try and write it." She scrunched up her face. "I've thought about it, but I also feel like that dream got buried in the sand when I joined the Cirque. Like you said, though, this is just my version." She started to hum Shine A Light, because it had popped into her brain as soon as he mentioned the Stones.
"I'm on my side," she laughed. "I'll leave that to you."
