"The nosebleed was my signal last time," she admitted. "And the lingering migraine. I just...kind of felt like I could do anything. Until I couldn't anymore."
"It is," she chuckled, settling back onto her pillows. Then she snorted. "Oh good, so the outside matches. I haven't heard anything like that, so I'm hoping there won't be." She gestured to her bowl and glass. "Chicken broth and water. Cass said he'll bring me some tea later, he's good like that."
She eyed the bright Gushers packet greedily. "I probably shouldn't," she said, though it sounded weak even to her own ears. "But my blood sugar's probably low, one or two can't hurt." She tore open the pouch and popped two in her mouth. They tasted amazing, and she savored the taste, so much better than plain broth.
Maddy groaned and clapped one hand over her eyes. "Oh geez," she giggled.
