The breath was knocked from Maddy's lungs, but she couldn't make herself care. She was just happy to be awake again, with Mallory next to her, like it should be. She hugged her tightly and held on, resting her head on her sister's shoulder.
"I'm sorry," she murmured. "I didn't mean to take it that far, but sometimes Issac...he sort of encourages people to do crazy things. He doesn't really mean to, that's just how he is. And he's been training me, helping me to try and strengthen my gifts. I just took it too far, too fast." She sighed and rubbed at her forehead.
"I think I'll just have to back off and not try so hard next time," she continued. "And work on insulating myself from his chaos-y vibe. Maybe you do sound a bit like Mom, but I don't mind. You're the first face I've seen in days, well, minus the healer."
