Better as a human? Better as a hyena? It all felt very similar to Lamb and so she shrugged. Why would she have a preference for what shape he wanted to be? She chose human for the obvious talking and thumb reasons, but some might disagree.
"I was going to put a hook through you and toss you over the side," Lamb told him, "but you pointed out that this would ruin your show. I don't want to get fired. But the hooks is my job." She held out her arms as though displaying her body. "Tell me where. Pick the meat and I'll hook it."
When humans did suspension - Lamb had learned - they had an assistant to push the sharp hooks through, and they had to be careful to only get the skin and not go through muscles, or else there might be permanent damage. But Lamb's body was a dead thing, so although it bled - at least a little - and scarred and hurt, it was harder to destroy.
