Danny's green eyes widened a fraction more at her assertion that there was something awful in the circus. Questions bubbled up to the surface, begging to pop right out of his mouth, but he kept them inside for the time being. He nodded once in understanding before pulling away from her.
Rising back to his full height, he took a deep breath to steady his nerves before darting toward the door. He had always been quick and nimble on his feet so he reached it in no time. There was nothing that he could see lying in wait outside as he slammed it shut but that didn't mean that it wasn't out there somewhere.
He trotted back over to Nevenka, settling himself beside her again. "Help me to understand. What is out there?" He cast a worried glance down at her arm. "Is it very bad? I can help you or I can take you to the Bandaid Station or your husband."
