She smiled a bit sadly. What could she say? She didn't know how to make the change hurt less, nor did she think telling him 'shit happens' was really the route to go right now. Because he knew. Maybe he could teach her how to accept help a little more easily. He knew perfectly well - she didn't ask. Either someone would volunteer and just do it or they didn't actually want to help.
