"Mmm," was the nonverbal answer, along with a little nod. Nadine had heard that before. "To be fair to my mother, I could have left at 18, and made a go of it alone. But it wouldn't be my nature to leave so many I care about behind." It wasn't a functional family unit by any stretch, but it was what she had been given in life.
"I don't intend to pry into your business, so I won't ask what brought you to Cirque." Nadine smiled over the water. "But I'm ready to listen if you ever need or want to share."
