Triple C Brigade
Catherine did not actually expect Callum to leave but she had to give him the opportunity for an out. The decision to continue or not had to be his. As much as she appreciated him and his protection, she wasn't going to force him to proceed into what might as well have been the Abyss.
It seemed her phone was working well enough to shoot off a text but God only knew if it would actually arrive or not. Or... When it would arrive. Then she shoved her phone back in her pocket, speeding up her steps to keep up with Caleb. She didn't need to feel for the path - he was leading now. He would find the source of the disturbance more easily than she would.
But footsteps behind her made her glance back just for a moment to catch the figure of a grumpy Scotsman just behind them. The corner of her mouth perked up as she looked back ahead. "Keep up then," she stated though her voice was soft, "And let your wolf through. Don't be afraid - it's a hunt. The beast will want to hunt." But her focus was on Caleb and while she was still feeling for hints to what and where and how and why, she became certain her heart was going to burst from how fast it was beating before they actually found anything.
