Maddy had been so happy when Cass had offered to make tea for her. Nothing she tried to shut her brain down had worked, so hopefully this would. She didn't want to have to be cursed to go to sleep.
She stopped off at the costumers to change out of her dress, pulling on a T-shirt and knit pants. Her hair was a hot mess, but she couldn't make herself care. She was too tired to care, and at the same time, too awake. Everything seemed hyper-real, while at the same time, her limbs felt like lead. This shit needed to stop.
She'd heard crashing and roaring off in the distance, and figured it might just be easier to go to Cass' wagon. If she had a daughter, she wouldn't want to leave her alone while that was happening. So she passed tiny houses until she found the right one, before knocking softly. The door swung open and she offered him a tired smile. "Hey Cass," she said, stepping inside. "Thanks for doing this."
